Upon graduating from his undergraduate degree, he spent three months volunteering with a refugee legal clinic in Cape Town, South Africa. He assisted clients from a variety of different backgrounds through their engagement with South Africa’s Legal System, assisting lawyers largely with criminal matters. He sought to develop a level of individual care and understanding that he now brings to all his work.
“The opportunity to have a real impact on people’s lives, is one that I am very fortunate to be able to undertake through my work. As such, my focus is always on guiding my clients through their matter, no matter how complex and overwhelming it may appear to be…with the overall goal of returning them back to their normal everyday lives.”
Originally from Rockhampton, Lachlan now works out of the Southport office, where he collaborates daily with the rest of the criminal law team, principally with experienced criminal lawyers, Bill Potts and Sinead Garland. Lachlan’s main areas of interest include crime, traffic and drug law. He welcomes the opportunity to engage with clients and to help them to resolve the legal problems they are facing.
His work is grounded in his desire to help his clients make sense of what often seems like a complicated system, to help them through what is often a stressful and destressing situation. His ability to remain calm under pressure and thoroughly prepare each case are central to achieving this goal… helping clients obtain the best possible outcome in their matter, whilst taking away some of their stress and supporting them through the process.
Outside of the law Lachlan likes to cook, read and is a keen rugby league fan.
