Joy is a criminal lawyer. She holds a dual degree from the University of Queensland, being in a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Arts majoring in History. She completed a Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice from the Australian National University and was admitted as a legal practitioner in the Supreme Court of Queensland in 2020.
She recently served as a judge’s associate in the District Court of Queensland to both her Honour Judge Richards in Brisbane and his Honour Judge Jackson QC in Southport. This experience has given her an intimate understanding of court systems and exposed her many criminal advocates in a wide range of matters.
