Man Jailed Over Child Porn ‘Library’

A HELENSVALE 24-year-old who created a massive child pornography online “library” has been jailed for three-and-a-half years.
The District Court in Brisbane on Friday was told Trent Andrew Williamson was the administrator of a website which contained thousands of child exploitation images.
He pleaded guilty to using a carriage service to make child pornography material available and possessing child exploitation material.
The site, uncovered in 2009 by Queensland Police investigators, attracted thousands of new posts each day.
In sentencing Williamson, Judge Terence Martin, SC, said Williamson had created and maintained a website which invited the exploitation of children.
“You clearly knew what you were doing,” Judge Martin said.
“In this case your criminal conduct was sustained and made child exploitation material involving many children available to a wide audience.
“You will find prison very difficult.”
Judge Martin, who remained Williamson into custody on Friday, ordered parole after he has served 12 months behind bars.
Outside court, defence lawyer Mark Williams, of Potts Lawyers, said it would be the hardest 12 months of his client’s life.
“This is a case where a young man has created a website that has gone global,” Mr Williams said. “It is important to note that he didn’t actually distribute any child exploitation material himself.
“There was an avalanche of web-site usage by other users and he could no longer moderate it.”
