Bail is Varied To Allow Couple Contact
Expectant Mum ‘Hid Pill Stash’

A Runaway Bay woman allegedly strapped about 2kg of illicit drugs to her pregnant belly in an attempt to smuggle them into the country.
Milka Bracanovic and her partner Matthew John Perry, both 34 were arrested as they came back from a holiday in Thailand through Brisbane International Airport on Christmas Eve.
Suspicious Australian Customs officers searched their luggage and allegedly found 2kg of tablets in Bracanovic’s bags.
Australian Federal Police allege a physical search of Bracanovic found more pills.
It is alleged the tablets later tested positive for pseudoephedrine, a restricted drug used in amphetamine production.
The engaged couple who are expecting a child, have been charged with importing a border-controlled precursor which carries a maximum penalty of 25 years in jail and a $550,000 fine.
Both were granted bail when they first appeared in court last year on the condition they have no contact with each other and surrender their passports.
However, Perry returned to Brisbane Magistrates Court with criminal defence lawyers yesterday to change the no contact condition after he was charged with breaching his bail because he met Bracanovic at Paradise Point on January 10.
“She is pregnant with his child and there are plans for marriage,” solicitor Mark Williams said.
Prosecutors told the court there was no opposition to the change in bail condition.
Perry’s drug charges were adjourned until February 17 to allow the Commonwealth to obtain a conclusive test on the contents of the tablets.
The case against Bracanovic is also scheduled to return to court next month.
